The second car of our collection was a family affair. I was at work and I get a call from my husband. He and my Uncle Louis are going to look at this old Model T that is in a man’s barn. I didn’t think anything of it, we had a car and surely we would not need another. I just figured this was going to be my Uncle Louis’s car and they were going to check it out. “WRONG”.

A little later, I get a call from them about how AWESOME and GREAT this car is and I HAVE to COME see this ASAP. I get myself together and head on over to see this Wonderful Find. I get to the location and I have to tell you I did not see what they saw. I saw a dusty relic full of rat “stuff”. It had been in that barn for a very very long time. You could barely get in there to see this “treasure” they had found. I bumped and scooted and pulled and tugged in my work cloths until I was able to reach the car. After some long conversations and a bit of negotiations my Uncle Louis is backing his truck and trailer up to this wonderful find. As you can tell, they brought a truck and trailer, so in all reality I was probably “had” before I even got there. Uncle Louis was going to take this jewel too his house to get it all cleaned up and in running order. If you have ever seen one of these cars in person they are a tad bit small inside and quite complicated. And yes, we now have our 2nd car and the disease has spread.

A couple of days later we get a call from Uncle Louis that the car is ready. I am skeptical that this little car could be anything but ready, but we get in the truck and we head off. We are going to pick up “their” treasure. I will tell you, when we rounded that corner and I saw the most beautiful & shiny little Model T that I had ever seen in my life. It shined like new money. It was amazing what a little time, patience and loving attention could do to bring this little car back to life.

I did hear after we got there that Uncle Louis had been driving all over the neighborhood. He had been cruising around as all the folks ooohhhhed and aaahhhhed at this shiny black Model T and I am sure he was grinning from ear to ear.

This little car is now called “Sweet T”. She sits in our building and we love her. I thank my Uncle Louis not only for helping bring her to life, but for being my Uncle. I thank him for all he has done for his family (me included) and all he continues to do for friends, family and strangers. I especially thank him for sharing this O.C.D. (Old Car Disease) with me and the hubs.

And lastly: Ladies, remember, we don’t have to be brand spanking new (young) to shine. We can put on a happy face, dress a little nicer and the “old girls” can still turn heads. Gentleman remember a little kindness and care goes a long way with us girls.

Lovingly,

Ms OCD

Sweet “T”

They came prepared.

My Uncle Louis – he works some magic on some cars 🙂
