This is a post of our experience at an overnight car show that was a “crowing good time”
We decided to go to Brenham, TX to a car show and take our car hauler trailer to stay the night. Our friend Jimmy was going too and he was going to show the Jeep and we would show the Hillbilly Truck. We packed our stuff, Jimmy brought all his camping supplies, and off we went.
And so the adventure begins….
The car hauler has a great little living quarters in the front and Jimmy had set him up a cozy little camp in the back (his little camp was great and looked like a little lady had fixed it all up – it was complete with a face sink, bedding and all the necessities – I was quite impressed to say the least). We started off to our destination and unbeknownst to us quite the adventure. When we arrived, we found our place to park. It was in a parking lot next to a church and we thought it would be the perfect overnight spot. The neighborhood was so quaint and there will all kinds of critters running around (squirrels, chickens and just a cozy little area of town). We just knew we had the perfect spot, right close the the event and we were set.
Now that we have described our accommodations, we will get back to the story.
We had all went to town that night; we hung out and talked cars until way in the night. When we got back to the camp we all settled in for a good nights sleep before the show in the morning. All was really great until about 2:30 am. As we are snoozing away, we are awaken by the sound of a very active rooster that was roaming the neighborhood. The neighborhood WE had parked in and thought was “oh so cute“. He crowed and shouted at the top of his lungs – for HOURS. He not only shouted and crowed to ‘beat the band – but then he woke all of his “mighty friends” and they began to crow and shout too. I am telling you….it sounded like we were in “Rooster Hell“. This went on the rest of the night. When we got up at 7:00 am to go to the show, every one of us looked like we had been up for 2 days. It is a very good thing that I did not have a “dumpling pot” handy or I would have been able to feed the whole flipping neighborhood chicken and dumplings. I kid you not – 😦
But I will tell you this, we have laughed more than once about the mighty roosters. We have told this story oh so many times. It was not the perfect night, but it was a memorable night.
You make the best of it, you laugh with each other and you make memories that will last a life time, roosters and all.
Be blessed, get out there and experience things and we hope that you have the opportunity to enjoy the world of old cars with us.
